WNT16 (Wnt Family Member 16) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome 7q31.31. The human WNT16 gene encodes a 40690 Da protein containing 365 amino acids. The WNT16 protein is biasedly expressed in skin and lymph node. Among its related pathways are Association Between Physico-Chemical Features and Toxicity Associated Pathways and Transcriptional misregulation in cancer. WNT16 is related to signaling receptor binding and frizzled binding. WNT7B is an important paralog of WNT16 gene. WNT16 is associated with some diseases, including Nodular Basal Cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma.

    WNT16 Background

    Wnt family member 16 (WNT16) is a major Wnt ligand involved in the regulation of postnatal bone homeostasis. WNT16 plays a critical role for acquisition of both cortical and trabecular bone mass and strength. WNT16-targeted therapies might be useful for treatment of postmenopausal trabecular bone loss.
