PDGFA Proteins, Antibodies, cDNA Clones Research Reagents

PDGFA (Platelet Derived Growth Factor Subunit A) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome 7p22.3. PDGFA is also known as PDGF1 and PDGF-A. The human PDGFA gene encodes a 24043 Da protein containing 211 amino acids. The PDGFA protein is ubiquitously expressed in lung, placenta and other tissues. Among its related pathways are Transcriptional misregulation in cancer and RET signaling. PDGFA is related to protein homodimerization activity and growth factor activity. PDGFB is an important paralog of PDGFA gene. PDGFA is associated with some diseases, including Denys-Drash Syndrome and Ureteral Obstruction.

        PDGFA Background

Platelet-derived growth factor alpha (PDGFA) is frequently upregulated in various cancers and thought to function as a key player in the development and progression of tumor growth by regulating aspects of cell proliferation, angiogenesis and metastasis. The human platelet-derived growth factor A chain gene (PDGFA) on chromosome 7p22 encodes an important mitogen. Within PDGFA lies a complex minisatellite structure that results in partial duplications of exon 4 and the IVS4 splice donor site.
