Immunohistochemistry (IHC) in Drug Discovery

Immunohistochemical staining and histomorphometry quantification are widely used in pharmaceutical R&D research. Digital image analysis and whole slide imaging which are based on immunohistochemical staining provide highly accurate and objective evaluations. Image Analysis can be applied across various aspects of Drug Discovery including Drug Efficacy and Safety studies, Drug Repositioning, Patient Stratification, Target Validation and Biomarker Expression studies.

Drug response:
In drug efficacy and safety studies cellular morphometry (e.g. shape, size, granularity etc) and antigen staining (area, intensity) can be accurately quantified by advanced image software analysis. It allows for comparison of drug response with dose and/or exposure, in both pre-clinical and clinical studies.
