B Cell Receptor

B cell, also called B lymphocyte, developed in bone marrow of most mammals, that circulates in the blood and lymph. One of the main functions of a B cell is antibody production, which aids in adaptive immunity, complement activation, and induction of allergic responses.

When encountering a particular foreign antigen, B cell can possesss a functioning B cell receptor and high affinity antibodies and differentiate into a clone of plasma cells that secrete a specific antibody and a clone of memory B cells that make the antibody on subsequent encounters.
