Pepsinogen C / PGC Antibody Usage Guide
|
Specificity : |
Human Pepsinogen C / PGC |
| Western blot : | This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human PGC in WB. Using a DAB detection system, the detection limit for Human PGC is approximately 0.5 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions. |
| Direct ELISA : | Direct ELISA – This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Human PGC. The detection limit for Human PGC is approximately 0.039 ng/well. |
| Storage : | This antibody can be stored at 2℃-8℃ for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20℃ to -70℃. Preservative-Free. Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |

Pepsinogen C / PGC Antibody Background
Gastricsin, also known as Pepsinogen C and PGC, is a secreted which belongs to thepeptidase A1 family. PGC / Gastricsin hydrolyzes a variety of proteins. PGC / Gastricsin is more restricted specificity than pepsin A, but shows preferential cleavage at Tyr-|-Xaa bonds. It has high activity on hemoglobin. PGC / Gastricsin is an aspartic proteinase that belongs to the peptidase family A1. It is a digestive enzyme that is produced in the stomach and constitutes a major component of the gastric mucosa. This protein is also secreted into the serum. It is synthesized as an inactive zymogen that includes a highly basic prosegment. This enzyme is converted into its active mature form at low pH by sequential cleavage of the prosegment that is carried out by the enzyme itself. Serum levels of this PGC / Gastricsin are used as a biomarker for certain gastric diseases includingHelicobacter pylorirelated gastritis.
