LCN2 / NGAL Antibody Usage Guide
|
Specificity : |
Rat LCN2 / NGAL |
| Western blot : | This antibody can be used at 1-2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Rat LCN2 in WB. Using a DAB detection system, the detection limit for Rat LCN2 is approximately 0.5 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions. |
| Direct ELISA : | This antibody can be used at 0.5-1 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Rat LCN2. The detection limit for Rat LCN2 is approximately 0.00975 ng/well. |
| Storage : | This antibody can be stored at 2℃-8℃ for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20℃ to -70℃. Preservative-Free. Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |

LCN2 / NGAL Antibody Background
Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), also known as LCN2, a constituent of neutrophil granules, is a member of the lipocalin family of binding proteins. Mouse LCN2 gene was first isolated from mouse kidney, and is detected in lung, spleen, uterus, vagina and epididymis. LCN2 plays a role in a variety of processes including cell differentiation, tumorigenesis, and apoptosis. It is indicted that NGAL exerts bacteriostatic effects, which are explained by its ability to capture and deplete siderophores, a small iron-binding molecules synthesized by certain bacteria as a means of iron acquisition. Further, acting as a growth and differentiation factor in multiple cell types, some of the activity of LCN2 is enhanced in the presence of siderophore: iron complexes.
