Influenza B/Brisbane/60/2008 (B/Brisbane/60/08) Background
Two types of influenza viruses are of public health concern; they are designated as Type A and Type B and can be readily distinguished from each other by laboratory tests but not by the clinical symptoms they produce. Influenzavirus B is a genus in the virus family Orthomyxoviridae. The only species in this genus is called "Influenza B virus". Influenza B viruses are only known to infect humans and seals, and evolve slower than A viruses. Although influenza type B viruses can cause human epidemics, they have not caused pandemics. Unlike influenza A viruses, these viruses are not classified according to subtype. Influenzavirus B mutates at a rate 2 to 3 times lower than type A.
Sino Biological Inc offer Recombinant Hemagglutinin Protein from the B/Brisbane/60/2008 for Influenza research.
