Influenza A/mallard/Ohio/657/2002 (A/mallard/Ohio/657/02) Background

Influenzavirus A includes only one species: Influenza A virus which causes influenza in birds and some mammals. HA codes for hemagglutinin, an antigenic glycoprotein found on the surface of the influenza viruses and is responsible for binding the virus to the cell that is being infected. NA codes for neuraminidase, an antigenic glycosylated enzyme found on the surface of the influenza viruses. There are several subtypes, labeled according to an H number (for the type of hemagglutinin) and an N number (for the type of neuraminidase). Few of the 16 haemagglutinin and nine neuraminidase subtype combinations have been isolated from mammals, but all subtypes have been isolated from birds. H4N6 is an Influenza A virus subtype. Avian Influenza virus H4N6, most likely of avian ongin, was isolated from morbid seals in January of 1991 in A4assachuseas, U.S.A. In October 1999, H4N6 influenza A viruses were isolated from pigs, which is the first report of interspecies transmission of an avian H4 influenza virus to domestic pigs under natural conditions.

Sino Biological Inc offer Recombinant Hemagglutinin Protein from the A/mallard/Ohio/657/2002 (H4N6) for Influenza research.
