Influenza A/Duck/Hong Kong/p46/97 (A/Duck/Hong Kong/p46/1997) Background
The influenza viruses are RNA viruses, which is divided into three main types (A, B and C). There are several subtypes, labeled according to an H number (for the type of hemagglutinin) and an N number (for the type of neuraminidase). Influenza A virus subtype H5N1, also known as "avian influenza" or "bird flu", A (H5N1) or simply H5N1, is a subtype of the Influenza A virus which can cause illness in humans and many other animal species. A bird-adapted strain of H5N1, called HPAI A (H5N1) for "highly pathogenic avian influenza virus of type A of subtype H5N1", is the causative agent of H5N1 flu. H5N1 is a subtype of the viral genus Influenzavirus A. Its name derives from the forms of the two kinds of proteins on the surface of its coat, hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). HA is a lectin that mediates binding of the virus to target cells and entry of the viral genome into the target cell, while NA is involved in the release of progeny virus from infected cells, by cleaving sugars that bind the mature viral particles.
Sino Biological Inc offer Recombinant Hemagglutinin Proteins from the A/Duck/Hong Kong/p46/97 (H5N1) for research aim.
