InfluenzaA/Cambodia/R0405050/2007 H5N1Background

Influenza, commonly referred to as the flu, is an infectious disease caused by RNA viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae (the influenza viruses), that affects birds and mammals. In virus classification influenza viruses are RNA viruses that make up three of the five genera of the family Orthomyxoviridae: Influenza A, Influenza B and Influenza C. Influenza A virus is capable of rapid genetic change in mammals. In humans, the need to escape preexisting immunity exerts positive selection pressure on changes in amino acids comprising the antigenic sites of the surface glycoproteins, hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). There are at least 16 different HA antigens. These subtypes are labeled H1 through H16. Influenza A virus subtype H5N1, also known as "bird flu", A(H5N1) or simply H5N1, is a subtype of the Influenza A virus which can cause illness in humans and many other animal species.

Sino Biological Inc offers Recombinant Hemagglutinin Protein from the A/Cambodia/R0405050/2007 (H5N1) for research aim.
