γ-IFN / IFN-gamma Protein Product Information

Synonym :

IFG,   IFI,  IFNG

Protein Construction:

A DNA sequence encoding the human γ-IFN ( NP_000610.2 ) ( Met 1 - Gln 166 ) was expressed and purified

Source: Human
Expression Host: CHO Cells

γ-IFN / IFN-gamma Protein QC Testing

Purity: > 92 % as determined by SDS-PAGE SDS-PAGE:
IFNG protein

IFNG protein

Bio-activity:

Measured in antiviral assays using WISH human amnion cells infected with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)
The EC50 for this effect is typically  0.1- 0.5  ng/mL
Endotoxin: < 1.0 EU per μg of the protein as determined by the LAL method
Stability: Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -70℃
Predicted N terminal: Gln 24
Molecular Mass:

The secreted recombinant human γ-IFN consists of 143 amino acids and has a predicted molecular mass of 16.7 kDa. γ-IFN migrates as two bands with apparent molecular mass of 21&25 kDa probably due to different glycosylation

Formulation:

Lyophilized from sterile PBS , pH 7.4

  1. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose and mannitol are added as protectants before lyophilization. Specific concentrations are included in the hardcopy of COA.
  2. Please contact us for any concerns or special requirements.

γ-IFN / IFN-gamma Protein Usage Guide

Storage: Store it under sterile conditions at -70℃. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitution: A hardcopy of COA with reconstitution instruction is sent along with the products. Please refer to it for detailed information.

γ-IFN / IFN-gamma Protein Description

Interferon gamma, also known as IFN-gamma, Immune interferon and IFNG, is a secreted protein which belongs to the type I I (or gamma) interferon family. IFN-gamma / IFNG is produced by lymphocytes and activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma / IFNG, in addition to having antiviral activity, has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages, it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I  interferons. Genetic variation in IFNG is associated with the risk of aplastic anemia (AA) which is a rare disease in which the reduction of the circulating blood cells results from damage to the stem cell pool in bone marrow. In most patients, the stem cell lesion is caused by an autoimmune attack. T-lymphocytes, activated by an endogenous or exogenous, and most often unknown antigenic stimulus, secrete cytokines, including IFN-gamma, which would in turn be able to suppress hematopoiesis.
