In SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, the apparent molecular mass of rm FGFR3/Fc monomer is approximately 100-110 kDa due to glycosylation.

FGFR3 Protein Description

Mouse fibroblast growth factor receptor 3, also known as FGFR3, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor subfamily belonging to the Tyr protein kinase family, and amino acid sequence of which is highly conserved between members and throughout evolution. FGFR family members differ from one another in their ligand affinities and tissue distribution. The full-length FGFR3 stucturally consists of an extracellular region composed of three immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, a single hydrophobic membrane-spanning segment and a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain. The extracellular portion of the protein interacts with fibroblast growth factors, resulting in the activation of a cascade of downstream signals, ultimately influencing mitogenesis and differentiation. FGFR3 is expressed in liver, lung, kidney, testis, ovary and uterus , with highest levels in brain in adults. FGFR3 is a receptor for acidic and basic fibroblast growth factors, and preferentially binds to FGF1.
