> DYRK3 DYRK3
DYRK3 is negative regulator of EPO-dependent erythropoiesis, may place an upper limit on red cell production during stress erythropoiesis. DYRK3 inhibits cell death due to cytokine withdrawal in hematopoietic progenitor cells. DYRK3 may act by regulating CREB/CRE signaling.

Summaries for DYRK3
Entrez Gene summary for DYRK3:
DYRK3 belongs to the DYRK family of dual-specificity protein kinases that catalyze autophosphorylation on serine/threonine and tyrosine residues. The members of this family share structural similarity, however, differ in their substrate specificity, suggesting their involvement in different cellular functions. DYRK3 protein has been shown to autophosphorylate on tyrosine residue and catalyze phosphorylation of histones H3 and H2B in vitro. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Wikipedia summary for DYRK3:
Dual specificity tyrosine-phosphorylation-regulated kinase 3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the DYRK3 gene.

Isoform 1 and isoform 2 are highly expressed in testis and in hematopoietic tissue such as fetal liver, and bone marrow. Isoform 2 is the predominant form in testis. Isoform 1 is the predominant form in fetal liver and bone marrow. Isoform 1 and isoform 2 are present at low levels in heart, pancreas, lymph node, and thymus. |

Function for DYRK3 Protein
UniProtKB:
DYRK3 is negative regulator of EPO-dependent erythropoiesis, may place an upper limit on red cell production during stress erythropoiesis. DYRK3 inhibits cell death due to cytokine withdrawal in hematopoietic progenitor cells. DYRK3 may act by regulating CREB/CRE signaling.
Genatlas:
- DYRK3 is serine/threonine and tyrosine kinase, phosphorylating histone H2B, putatively involved in cell growth and development
- DYRK3 might act to attenuate erythroblast development
- DYRK3 attenuates (and possibly apportions) red cell production selectively during anemia
- DYRK3 may act via intrinsic erythroid cell mechanisms to selectively place an upper limit on stress erythropoiesis
- DYRK3 promotes cell survival through pphosphorylation and activation of SIRT1 with DYRK1A
- DYRK3 regulates erythropoiesis through as yet unknown molecular pathways
Homology for human DYRK3
