DECTIN2 Protein Description

Dectin 2 contains 1 C-type lectin domain and belongs to the C-type lectin domain family. It is expressed in lung, spleen, lymph node, leukocytes, bone marrow, tonsils and dendritic cells. Dectin 2 functions as a receptor for alpha-mannans on C. albicans hypheas and plays an important role in the host defense against C. albicans infection by inducing TH17 cell differentiation. It binds high-mannose carbohydrates in a Ca²⁺-dependent manner and recognizes soluble elements from the eggs of Shistosoma mansoni altering adaptative immune responses. Dectin 2 transduces signals through an Fc receptor gamma chain /FCER1G and Syk-CARD9-NF-kappa-B-dependent pathway.
