Summaries for Carboxypeptidase B1

Entrez Gene summary for Carboxypeptidase B1:

Three different procarboxypeptidases A and two different procarboxypeptidases B have been isolated. The B1 and B2 forms differ from each other mainly in isoelectric point. Carboxypeptidase B1 is a highly tissue-specific protein and is a useful serum marker for acute pancreatitis and dysfunction of pancreatic transplants. It is not elevated in pancreatic carcinoma.

OMIM - description for Carboxypeptidase B1:

Yamamoto et al. (1992) noted that pancreatic carboxypeptidase B was originally described and characterized as pancreas-specific protein (PSAP), a useful serum marker for acute pancreatitis and dysfunction of pancreatic transplants. It is not elevated in pancreatic carcinoma. The protein constitutes about 2% of total pancreatic cytosolic proteins

Wikipedia summary for Carboxypeptidase B1:

Function for Carboxypeptidase B1 Protein

UniProtKB:

Genatlas:

  • Carboxypeptidase B1 modulates the plasminogen system both in the matrix and on the cell surface, thus leading to the inhibition of endothelial cell movement and tube formation
  • Carboxypeptidase B1 cleaves off basic C-terminal residues and secreted as inactive zymogens
