CNTFR Antibody Product Information

Immunogen :

Recombinant Rat CNTFR protein (Catalog#80019-R08B)

Antibody Type : Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody ( Antibody Purification Platform )
Ig Type :

Rabbit IgG

Formulation : 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS with 5% trehalose
Preparation :

Produced in rabbits immunized with purified, recombinant Rat CNTFR (rR CNTFR; Catalog#80019-R08B; Q08406-1; Met 1-Pro 346). CNTFR specific IgG was purified by Rat CNTFR affinity chromatography.

CNTFR Antibody Usage Guide

Specificity :

Rat CNTFR

Western blot : This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Rat CNTFR in WB. Using a DAB detection system, the detection limit for Rat CNTFR is approximately 1 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions and 0.5 ng/lane under reducing conditions.
Direct ELISA : This antibody can be used at 0.1-0.2 μg/mL with the appropriate secondary reagents to detect Rat CNTFR. The detection limit for Rat CNTFR is approximately 0.00975 ng/well.
Storage : This antibody can be stored at 2℃-8℃ for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20℃ to -70℃. Preservative-Free.
Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

CNTFR Antibody Background

Ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor subunit alpha, also known as CNTF receptor subunit alpha, CNTFR-alpha, and CNTFR is a cell membrane protein which belongs to thetype I cytokine receptor family and Type 3 subfamily. CNTFR contains twofibronectin type-III domains and oneIg-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domain. Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) is expressed in glial cells within the central and peripheral nervous systems. CNTF stimulates gene expression, cell survival or differentiation in a variety of neuronal cell types such as sensory, sympathetic, ciliary and motor neurons. CNTF is not essential for neural development, but instead acts in response to injury or other stresses. The CNTF receptor complex is most closely related to, and shares subunits with the receptor complexes for interleukin-6 and leukemia inhibitory factor. The specificity conferring alpha subunit of the CNTF complex (CNTFR alpha), is extremely well conserved across species, and has a distribution localized predominantly to the nervous system and skeletal muscle. CNTFR alpha lacks a conventional transmembrane domain and is thought to be anchored to the cell membrane by a glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol linkage.
